MAGIC IN THE FOREST

From 2018

Last week, on one of the hottest days of the summer, I was hiking on a trail and something mystical happened.

I’d hiked down a steep ridge into a valley and there was a beautiful creek flowing through a pine forest. There was a flat, clear place to sit on the creek bank, covered in soft pine needles.

I sat by a small waterfall, and let the sound of water burbling over the rocks, and the scents of pine, rich earth, dry leaves, and clean water flow around  me.  It was such a perfect, peaceful place I decided to do my gratitude thoughts.

I sat there for a while, thinking about the amazing things that have happened in my life in the past year, and feeling so intensely grateful and filled with such joy it felt like bright light shooting through me.

Suddenly the air changed.  In less than a second it went from hot and humid to cool and clear.  The air suddenly felt soft. I was surrounded by softness.  Then a gentle breeze slipped quickly down through the trees and actually whirled around where I was sitting, but nowhere else. Nowhere. Else. It was exactly like in the movies when something magical happens.

I could  FEEL the breeze’s personality and its emotions – happy, laughing, playful, pure, bursting with joy.  It flowed through me in a quick wave.

Then, instantly, it stopped. The breeze, the softness of the air, all gone in a second.

I sat there for a little while, feeling thankful for the “visit”…. the cosmic hug… feeling honoured.

Floating in soft happiness.
